GUIDED WALKING in the Brecon Beacons.

Planning to visit the Brecon Beacons area?

Why not take the opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside and mountains in the company of an experienced and enthusiastic professional?

Kevin Walker is a local mountain addict with 30 years experience as a professional mountaineering instructor and walking guide. Well known in the outdoor business, he is the author of many books including Mountain Navigation Techniques (widely regarded as a standard work), Learn Rock Climbing in a Weekend (published worldwide), and The Essential Hillwalkers Guide. His latest book, Navigation: Finding Your Way on Mountain & Moorland, was published to critical acclaim in May 2007, and he is currently working on a new title, Undiscovered Wales, a walking guide with a difference, due to be published in 2009. He also writes and publishes local guide books and route cards under the banner of Heritage Guides.

Walks to enjoy and remember!

No matter what your level of fitness or ability, Kevin will not only choose a walk that is right for you, but will also bring it to life with tales and folklore and an infectious enthusiasm for the local countryside. You will find that there really is something here for everyone.

Where will we go?

There are many options...

We specialise in guided walks and navigation courses
  • Gentle strolls alongside the tranquil canal, or fascinating forays through deep wooded gorges full of hidden waterfalls and rushing torrents.
  • High-level mountain circuits around the central Brecon Beacons - the highest mountains in southern Britain - or wild wanderings through the wilderness areas of the Carmarthen Fans.
  • Trips along forgotten tramroads offering tantalising glimpses of our recent past, or explorations of more ancient sites where our Celtic ancestors once lived and loved, worked and played, fought and worshipped.

How much will all this cost?

Less than you might think! Whilst the precise cost will depend upon the route, the duration, and the number of people, a good guide price is around £25.00 per person (based on a group of 3 or 4 people). Kevin will quote you a precise figure, without obligation, before you book.

What will I need to bring?

That depends on the time of year and the walk chosen, but sturdy footwear and a reasonable set of waterproofs (jacket & trousers) are a must, as is a small rucksack in which to carry a packed lunch and something (non-alcoholic!) to drink. Kevin will advise you on clothing, footwear and kit when you book, and all items are available for hire at nominal rate if required.
