which enables you to get an incredibly detailed picture of the ground using simple techniques.
POOR VISIBILITY NAVIGATION
Learn to find your way on the hills in a fog! This workshop introduces the skills needed to navigate accurately in misty conditions
including compass work and estimating time and distance.
HILL & MOUNTAIN SAFETY
This workshop explores the basic considerations for safe walking in the hills and will be found useful by walkers of all levels of experience.
ILLUSTRATED TALKS & AUDIO-VISUAL SHOWS
I offer several lavishly illustrated talks and audio-visual shows suitable for a variety of social occasions and venues.
These are between one & two hours duration and include:
NATURE OF THE BRECON BEACONS
Come on a journey of discovery through the Nature of the Brecon Beacons.
The aim is to get you to look at things… not just glance or simply admire the big picture,
but to stop and examine the smaller things; to appreciate the exquisite detail of the nature that surrounds us.
A WALK IN THE PARK
In a this show I present the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park as you have never seen it before,
including not only old favourites, but also many less well-known hidden gems.
LEGENDARY WALKS
Landscape and legend have always been inextricably linked… and walking is a great way to experience this unique combination.
In this show I take you on journeys of discovery through the legendary landscape of Wales and further afield.
FORGOTTEN WALES
Wherever you go in Wales, there are constant reminders the past – some obvious, others less so.
This show explores this rich history and heritage and offers a fascinating foray into a largely forgotten world.
I am fascinated by the history and heritage of mountain regions throughout the world and have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to explore some stunning areas, as illustrated by three further shows:
ISLAND PEAK
In 2014 I was lucky enough to be part of a small, private expedition to the Himalaya, during which I summitted Island Peak (6189m).
In this show, I illustrate that trip and describe my experiences of the landscape and culture of the Khumbu region.
ADVENTURES DOWN-UNDER
In December 2016 I left Wales for a 3-month stint down-under, spending a month travelling around Australia,
and two months exploring the awesome landscapes of New Zealand. This show illustrates the story of that trip.
MESSING WITH THE MASONRY
From school-boy rebel to Himalayan adventurer, I have spent more than four decades walking – so much so that it has become a way of life. In this highly visual, auto-biographical talk, I share my passion and enthusiasm for this most basic of pleasures
and entreat you to get out there and walk.
(The strange title is explained during the show!)
